Lawmakers Ask DOJ to Investigate Amazon

After requests for business records detailing how Amazon uses third-party data were left unsatisfied, a bipartisan group of lawmakers now seeks a criminal probe of the internet retailer. A letter to the Attorney General accused Amazon of making false and misleading statements that potentially amount to criminal conduct.

Jeff Bezos, report to the principal's office. Amazon claimed during an investigation of four big tech companies that they did not use a seller's data to compete with the seller directly. Jeff Bezos later contradicted this claim, but the company has refused to provide any evidence to Congress.

Accusations claim Amazon uses sales data to create competing products and then rates them higher on their retail site.
