Troublemaker Eric Trytko sent us an article he found worth a look. A writeup about Saturn dealerships in 1991. The article talks about “new philosophies” of being a dealership: Fixed pricing, low pressure buy options, dealers are called retailers, salespeople are called consultants, the showroom is open-air with a customer waiting lounge, and fixed ops are beside the showroom. Ideas the article indicates were brand new for the time, but are common place in dealers across the industry now.
