With football season and the Olympics over, automakers have adjusted TV advertising strategies. Toyota, Nissan, and Subaru topped the iSpot.tv list of most-viewed automotive commercials for the week of Feb. 21. US brands turned their TV ad focus on news, dramas, comedies, and basketball. In contrast, Asian brands found the most success during reruns of the TV show "Friends" and the CBS Morning News.
Who wins and why? Toyota took the top two spots with ads ranking above average in "likeability" and "watchability." The data is inconclusive as to the cause, with ad placement and ad quality playing separate but essential parts.
