Another Day, Another Strike

More than 1,900 British port workers have started an eight-day strike. The strike is the latest effort by British workers seeking higher wages amid a cost-of-living crisis.

Import/Export. The affected port, Felixstowe, is the country's biggest port. 2021 traffic accounts for:

  • $44.2b or about 48% of all container imports.
  • At $10.8b or about 25% of the UK's exports.

The eight-day strike could disrupt more than $800m in clothing, electronics, and components, which will be routed to other ports if possible.
