California’s Labor Day Heat Wave

California announced Flex Alerts ahead of a Labor Day weekend heat wave. The flex alerts are voluntary calls for energy-saving measures during the 4-9 pm peak use time to prevent any portion of the grid from overloading. Measures such as setting the thermostat higher, leaving large appliances off, and, you'll never guess, not charging your EV. 

Wait, didn't they just... In a move of cosmic comedy, or just really regrettable timing, this announcement comes just a few days after the state's decision to ban new gas-powered car sales from the state as of 2035.
