According to a new research report, Australia is in a perfect position to reignite vehicle manufacturing with a focus on high-tech EV production. Report author, Dr. Mark Dean, says many of the key elements are already in place with rich mineral reserves, an existing highly skilled workforce, and an advanced industrial base.
Ford, Toyota, and GM Holden closed their production facilities in the region in 2016/17 but there are still around 35,000 people employed in the part manufacturing industry. A return of the auto manufacturing giants could see a boom in EV production world-wide as well as a return of many Australian manufacturing jobs.
