Ford has been generating a lot of buzz around its EV business. The CEO announced a split between EV and ICE after denying a division was in the company's cards just weeks before. Early previews of the company's first EV pickup were positive, with customers snatching up all F-150 Lightning reservations within eight months of being announced.
Everybody's looking, now what? Ford announced the three-and-a-half-ton pickup would have a battery range of 230 miles with an extended-range battery option increasing it to 300 miles. A recent test found the extended battery reaches 320 miles instead, which is a feat, considering the truck's weight and significant drag area.
Rounding out discoveries is the price. With the extended battery and Ford's BlueCruise hands-free driver assistance system, the Lightning will cost nearly $78K.
