Let's talk about Ford, friends!
Celebrate! Ford has built its 150,000th Mach-E. Like every step into the unknown; this marks quite a milestone for the brand on the road to 2M EVs a year by 2026.
Invest. To hit those ambitious production goals, Ford is boosting its UK plant investment by $180M. The investment will boost EV power unit production in its north England plant by 70%. The money is just a piece of a half-billion-dollar plan in motion.
Praise where praise is due. Even rival and owner of the current EV industry leader, Elon Musk, congratulated Ford and CEO Jim Farley for the milestone through Twitter.
Closing the gap? Second place and working to overtake Tesla, Ford has deviated from Musk's Lithium sourcing strategy and it could make the difference.
GM and Ford are challenging Tesla's long-standing semi-monopolization of miner materials. As additional options (often with more money), legacy OEMs can enter long-term deals that afford lithium, cobalt, and nickel miners what they need to open new mines.
