Georgian Direct Sale Bills Stall

Georgia unceremoniously rejected Rivian's attempts to court lawmakers. Two bills seeking to adjust the state's direct sale policy garnered bipartisan support, but ultimately fell flat. Rivian supported the 2021 bill and invested in Georgia with a $5B plant. James Chen, Rivian's VP of Public Policy, says the company remains committed to working with lawmakers. 

Round 3? Several EV companies and fans wanted this year's Senate Bill 398 to be a decisive move toward direct sales for Georgia. The bill landed in the Senate Committee of Economic Development and Tourists, where it never received a vote. Lawmakers will not consider the bill again until next year.
