German Government Blocks Deal With China

The German government has blocked the sale of a semiconductor plant to a Swedish subsidiary of China's Sai microelectronics.

The plant produces chips for the automotive industry in Dortmund, Germany. The economic ministry says they blocked the $85M deal because it would have "endangered the public order and safety of Germany."

The hope is to safeguard Europe's access to chips and avoid political pressure from Beijing.
