GM Makes Moves

General Motors is inching closer to their long-spoken "all-electric future." The first pre-orders of their Cadillac Lyriq are rolling off the line, and this week they announced the founding of an import business focusing on China.

Musiq and Lyriqs. Last September, Cadillac announced the Lyriq but closed pre-orders after just ten minutes, reporting they sold out. An assembly plant in Spring Hill, TN, was retooled for creating the EVs, but will only produce 3,000 this year. While pre-orders have started being filled, new orders will be accepted as on May 19th.

World Tour. General Motors' new China-based premium import business will focus on selling high-margin, "iconic vehicles" from the US. Both EVs and ICE vehicles that have never been sold in China before will be made available. Historically GM's Chinese presence has been built within China through joint ventures.
