GM is always busy! Sometimes they invest in new things, other times they spend money on new ideas, and occasionally they drop huge loads of cash on future projects. They announced a $491M investment at its plant in Marion, Indiana, to prepare the facility to stamp steel and aluminum parts for future EVs.
Seriously though, in the last few months, we have covered a lot of GM investments, and it is beginning to feel like a jack-in-the-box about to pop. Any second. Any. Second. Now.
Ford likes to keep everybody guessing. Questions like "Are you going to cut dealers out of the EV business?" and "How all-electric is your all-electric future?" for instance. A recently announced gas-powered 2024 Mustang is possibly the last ICE vehicle by the company.
While Ford's muscle rivals go electric, it will be interesting to see if their brand or power method captures more loyalty in the coming years.
