Mercedes sees luxury drivers as the straw that will break the electric camel's back.
CEO Ola Kallenius said a switch to electric is what the company thinks is right and the best choice "even from a business perspective." The company plans to sell EVs and ICE for several years, but believes luxury customers will favor its electric offerings with time saying - As long as you deliver a superior product, customers will be open-minded.
The company delivered 31K EVs in the first half of 2022.
