Watch out summer birthday friends, the new socks your mom still gets you may have to find a home in your home. In recent earnings calls, some of the largest retailers, including Target, Walmart, Gap, and American Eagle Outfitters, have reported an overabundance of stock that is costing them more money than their crypto wallets lost so far this year (ok, maybe a stretch). 

Just keep it. These retailers are considering an unprecedented move to keep return stock away. Soon you may seek to return something only to have to keep it and get your money back at the same time. Online retailers like Amazon already employ these practices on low-cost and perishable items, but the stock issue at brick and mortar has never led to this type of policy.
