Rivian announced they are raising the price of their R1T Truck and R1S SUV. The 17-20% increase brings prices to $79,000 for the R1T and $84,500 for the R1S. Pre-orders that have begun production will not increase, but all other pre-orders will.
Options? The company will refund the $1,000 deposit or allow the customer to choose a downgraded model with a standard battery. The standard battery has a 260-mile range and lowers the price by $12,000. However, neither the standard nor the newly priced options will be available until 2024.
Rivian has blamed inflation for the steep price hike, but many customers feel tricked and outraged.
