GM's Cruise robotaxis are under a US safety regulator investigation for blocking traffic and causing collisions. In the filing, the NHTSA said it received complaints about the vehicles hard breaking or becoming immobilized while operating. Bad news since Cruise is waiting for approval to expand operations outside San Francisco.

So somehow, the software-based driver is making mistakes with stopping AND going. We hope the radio works?

Waymo, on the other robotic hand, just upped their service. People can book driverless rides between the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and downtown Phoenix. This is a first for the world since, until now, robotaxis have not been authorized as airport taxis.

The company has been testing autonomous vehicles with safety drivers for some time. However, it is still awaiting approval for rider-only operations in San Fransisco.
