Scout in SC, Toyota in China, and Subaru in the USA

Scout is building a $2B EV plant in South Carolina. VW's all-electric off-road brand says it will produce around 200K trucks and SUVs annually as well as open 4K permanent jobs near Columbia, SC. They plan to break ground on the plant in mid-2023, with production beginning by the end of 2026.

Toyota and BYD's first co-developed $27K electric bZ3 will begin delivery soon in China. Toyota cut the price of the Joint Venture's other model, the bZ4, by 15% following a decline in sales in 2022, which broke a six-year streak of increased sales. The Beyond Zero lineup seems to be the brand's effort to catch up in the EV game and maintain a strong presence in the world's largest auto market.

Subaru of America is making some changes! As of April 1, President and CEO Thomas J. Doll will move from day-to-day company management to an advisor role. 34-year brand veteran and current Executive VP Tadashi "Tady" Yoshida will assume the role of Chairman and CEO. The role of the president will go to Jeffrey A Walters, who has more than 30 years of experience and is the current Senior VP of Sales for the brand.
