Suspended in Michigan

❓ Pop Quiz: What was suspended in Michigan for concerns regarding "Imminent harm to the public?"

Nope, we are not talking about Full Self Driving this time. 🤖

👮 Michigan Department of State (MDOS) has suspended Carvana LLC in Oakland County.

The MDOS found several alleged violations while investigating no-title complaints at the location. 🔍

Violations include.

  • 112 failures to apply for titles and registration within 15 days of delivery.
  • 3 separate occasions of a Carvana employee destroying title applications and all applicable documents and the car in question being taken back.
  • Failing to maintain odometer records, properly issue temporary registrations, or provide records during reasonable inspection.
  • Violating previously set probation rules 127 times.

🔔 Due to the ongoing nature of the violation (multiple fines and probation extensions), the MDOS took emergency action.

Carvana says they are ready to fight back. According to a company spokesperson, they have addressed the state's issues and are being unfairly targeted. The company says the suspension ignored the 98% of its Michigan customers get their registration on time. 👩‍⚖️
