Europe is breaking its dependency on Russian gas. A deal between the US and EU will offset gas imports from Russia by 15 billion cubic meters(BCM). The deal will require increased natural gas production in the US. Other nations will also contribute. President Biden added that moving away from natural gas is the long-term goal, but further isolating Russia is prioritized.
Ten Percent. Russia exported 155 BCM to the EU in 2021, triple the amount of 2019. The US will send 50 BCM to the EU by 2030, but other countries' contributions are not public yet.
