A recent report released by Axios says existing franchise laws protecting the US dealer model are here to stay. While online retail and changing OEM standards are putting pressure on dealers to keep up or bow out, the role held by dealers as local knowledge and service hubs is too valuable to the rolling adoption of EVs by the public for OEMs to abandon.
