VW’s New $2B Plant

Volkswagen is having 2nd thoughts about building a new $2B plant. Reasons include: they already have a plant they could use, and they would get to keep $2B!

The brand's flagship EV, Trinity, is planned for production in 2026, incorporating E3 2.0 software and Scalable Systems Platform (SSP) production.

Since E3 2.0 has been delayed until 2029 or later, and a suitable factory in Wolfsburg could be outfitted with the SSP by then, CEO Blume is considering moving the company's electric launch back to 2030.
