Kyle Mountsier: 0:00This is In the Dirt with ASOTU. You first because you've got a wonderful, a wonderful person here, that's part of your organization that has gotten this honor. What does that like for a Dealer for an organization like you? What's the pride and the experience around all of that?Carl Swope: 0:18

Well, it's very fulfilling. And obviously, this is a family business has been, I'm second generation, this is the third generation coming along. And what's really pleasing for me is this. It's Jennifer is a 40, under 40. But I've also got another daughter, that's her partner in this whole thing. And they're both under 40, quite frankly, but it's just very fulfilling for me to have both of them really taken the reins.

Kyle Mountsier: 0:46

That's awesome. So as you've kind of grown up and come through the industry, I know you've been in a couple of different places. What is it like now to be in that to be in the position you're at now and to have won this this honor, based on accomplishments or encouragement or anything like that? What's that feel like for you?

Jennifer Swope: 1:05

It's, it's humbling. I mean, you know, I grew up at the Christmas table, and everybody talks shop and everybody, you know, the kids are like, Can we sit at the kids table please? We don't want to talk shop. But now as kids are the ones talking shop, and the adults are like, Can we sit at the kids table? So can you just kind of grow up and you live it. So to be here right now and to you know, to be able to live that for the third generation? It's, it's just fun.

Kyle Mountsier: 1:28

That's really cool. So as an organization, obviously, I mean, it's no, it's no joke to anyone that like the industry is shifting and moving and looking different daily. But it's not like it's never been that way was an organization are you all looking at in this next year, a couple years to really refine and dial in and make sure that your organization is set up for future success.

Jennifer Swope: 1:51

I think we hunker down and get to business. So I don't want to say that, you know, we got lazy over the last couple of years. But the last couple of years were really amazing. And actually we did a lot of good work. But it's time to get back to the details, it's time to get back to the focus, it's time to get back to, you know, operating the way that I don't want to say the way we used to because we're going to operate better, right. But I think that as the market normalizes and as we experienced this next shift, it's only going to make us stronger.

Kyle Mountsier: 2:17

So and you've been in the auto industry and a Dealer now for how long at this point. 45 years. All right. So in your 45 years, one of the one of the things that I know and I can I can guess based on the family legacy and your smile, even is that the passion for not just the Auto Industry, but also the community is very evident in most most Dealers. What as you're working in and communicating with and through the community. What are you saying to your community about your ability to continue to serve them in the future?

Carl Swope: 2:47

Well, I mean, you hit the nail on the head, and this whole family of dealerships has always been very community engaged. And so we're fortunate in many ways, we're not in a major metro. We're in a midsize market where, you know, after 70 years of being in business, we're pretty well known, but we kind of brand ourselves on that community engagement. And so what we're saying to the community is, Dealers add value, they add value to not only the consumer, but also to the manufacturer. And we're saying that to our manufacturers as well.

Kyle Mountsier: 3:21
