  • GM plans to support the installation of 25 locations and 100 chargers before the end of the year and an additional 200 locations in 2024.
  • The chargers will be co-branded “Pilot Flying J” and “Ultium Charge 360,” reflecting the two companies that will be funding the project.
  • Ford is partnering with Xcel Energy to install 30,000 EV charging ports for fleet customers by 2030.
  • “While other charging providers battle for market share and go through turmoil. Ford is a trusted resource with more than 120 years of experience,” Dave Prusinski, global chief revenue officer at Ford Pro, said. “Yet today we’re reinventing ourselves daily and running at startup speeds.”

Fans of small Italian vehicles rejoice as a revamped Fiat 500e is set to return to the U.S. in early 2024.

  •  The tiny vehicle boasts a 149-mile range, a significant increase from its previous 84 miles.
  • Powered by a 42-kWh lithium-ion battery, the 500e includes a range of driving modes and safety features, like automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist.

Okay, it is what day is it? It's Wednesday. It's Wednesday, December 6. How am I may have the worst backlight we've ever had in an episode today, but we're talking about electric expanding the Fiat 500 is back and AI alliances. Got a couple of AI alliances going on. That's gonna be the story the next

Kyle Mountsier: 0:50

I'm most excited about the second story. I hope we don't hang on it too much. Yeah,

Paul J Daly: 0:54

right. Right. I just want to remind you a year extravaganza coming in on December 20. We are in Houston today. Yeah, we are meet with some really great dealers from all across the country. So we'll tell you more about that at some point, but on 20 On Wednesday, December 20. We're going to have another third annual here and extreme everyone

Kyle Mountsier: 1:12

together, put them around the Christmas tree will tell some stories. We do automotive, we need a

Paul J Daly: 1:18

Christmas I think we will have a Christmas tree for sure. But we got to get into some news because they weren't going you have a day of work going. So two major OEMs are partnering to expand their charging networks across the US. GM is partnering with Evie, go pilot and pilot, the gas company. And Ford will partner with Xcel Energy to provide a total of get this over 30,000 charging stations by the year 2030 2030 thing.

Kyle Mountsier: 1:45

There's a lot that has to do with the next year. So yeah, there's more. So GM is planning on the installation of 25 locations and 100 charters before the end of this year. And then another 200 locations. Okay, so 20 So 225 locations with pilot and Evie go over the next little over well 25 locations this year, they're going to be fine. They've already opened well they are going to co brand them as Pilot Flying J and ultium Charge 360 which is GMs product project. So they'll the you know it's a joint venture at this point. So it's cool to see like a gas company partnering with a legacy OEM to get chargers Yeah,

Paul J Daly: 2:29

we've been hearing drips of this light for the last year. Yeah and now we're starting to see chargers going so I'm gonna personally gonna love seeing Ford logos or GML team logos around as people are charging they obviously Tesla

Kyle Mountsier: 2:41

was everywhere. Exactly that was the fun part of the article they're like it's gonna be cool because you're gonna see these like Tesla chargers and then up pops a GM part charger right next to yeah,

Paul J Daly: 2:50

let's get everybody confused, but you gotta be in the fight.

Kyle Mountsier: 2:52

Yeah, exactly. Gotta

Paul J Daly: 2:53

be in the fight. So that's good. I was gonna say speaking of being in the fight, but has nothing to do. This is the opposite of the type of thing that makes you want to fight Fiat feds have small Italian vehicles will rejoice the revamped Fiat 500 E is set to return the US in early 2024. This thing is tiny about the shoot. I don't know if it's actually Mexico might look like that. So the tiny vehicle 149 mile range. It's a two door but a four seater. And so it's a significant reach increase in range from the 84 miles now it's 149 as a 42 kilowatt lithium ion battery and has all kinds of safety features two lane changing assists, like the limit cars, other ones that usually don't have. It still weighs 3000 pounds

Kyle Mountsier: 3:38

Ness as soon as they do that fit that thing in there. The battery

Paul J Daly: 3:42

and the battery that's and and it welcomes get this it welcomes drivers, it says with a digital tone that according to the company sets the tone for an immersive Italian.

Kyle Mountsier: 3:53

I just can't wait for the tic tac video. That's like, here's the little sound that you get. Have you seen the sound? I haven't seen it? I have I'm trying to imagine in my

Paul J Daly: 4:01

head mine went 100 Different places like somebody was a child. Is it old school Italian? It's

Kyle Mountsier: 4:09

father Italian. Or maybe it's Yeah. Right. Like I

Paul J Daly: 4:13

mentioned a little mandolin when you get in. Or it's like

Kyle Mountsier: 4:16

classical Italian. And all of a sudden it's like, there's so many

Paul J Daly: 4:19

options. There's so many options, you know. So here's a great quote. So we'll talk about how you can buy a great quote from CEO Oliver Francoise. The 2024 or 500 E is a modern tech for taking the beloved classic try not to smile when you drive this car. I think that's fun, right? It is I'm smiling already saying it. But I feel like the size of the car. I probably wouldn't be smiling for

Kyle Mountsier: 4:42

long. Yeah, you'd be like, yeah, like all of a sudden you're white knuckled for sure. So you

Paul J Daly: 4:46

can buy the car from the digital. What's it called the

Kyle Mountsier: 4:48

Fiat store with Fiat live store.

Paul J Daly: 4:50

So this is an online way that you can just order it have it delivered, don't have to go to a dealership, which is kind of fine. Because again, the Fiat showrooms are where everyone's stores there. and of your boxes, the boxes and there used cars, and they put their use cars in the showroom. So good call on that one. You can interact with a Fiat genius and buy a little kind of little tiny car, little tiny car. It's

Kyle Mountsier: 5:12

a great car for a city driver. Yeah, absolutely. Well, speaking of geniuses, segue there it is, he got it, he got it. In a significant move for the AI industry. Meta and IBM have joined forces to form the AI Alliance a collective effort to promote open source AI development. The initiative includes over 50 major partners, including companies like NASA, Intel, Yale University, their their big desire is to benchmark AI creation, build a catalog of vetted tools that have been vetted by this this, this group, and then advocate use among developers specifically. So how do we get developers using some of these open source things, and then also contribute to policymaking and regulation when it comes to safe AI development? The quote here from Nick Clegg, Nick Clegg, the president of Global Affairs, for meta said, in a note about making sure that all of this AI stuff is open source, he said, We believe it's better when AI is developed openly, more people can access the benefits, build innovative products and work on safety.

Paul J Daly: 6:21

Well, I think we all agree with whenever it's developed openly, we're all a little safer. But also innovation goes faster when you look at things like Ruby on Rails, or anything that a company has put forth, or got together with people and said, Hey, let's work on this together. Yep. It always is better. It's always faster. So it was more versatile, safer. And we'll see. Yeah.

Kyle Mountsier: 6:42

I mean, that's, that's a big part of this is like, how do we make sure that it's safe, but I think everyone can have access to stuff. I love that this the desire here is to make sure that developers specifically are equipped with the tools to develop more quickly. And I think that what's going to happen is you're going to see these deep levels of integrations, because this alliance is going to be pursuing how do we work together better not just in the regulatory effort here, but actually in the development of new technology?

Paul J Daly: 7:09

You're saying that and you can overlay pretty much everything you just said onto the automotive industry. We're seeing a great move of dealers, tech partners working together sharing information I'm seeing it at a rate that I've never seen but this is going to be the era yes this like this like two to five year period is going to be the area we're always going to look back to and like oh, that's where we finally started to get right and get together. So there you go. Well, thank you for getting together with us. We have a big day in front of us. You have a big day in front of you. Whatever you're doing, just make sure

Kyle Mountsier: 7:37

we got a big sunshine back here. We

Paul J Daly: 7:38

do have big sunshine we got big like I feel like it's very picturesque at this point. Just cut the BA cam. We will see you tomorrow.
