After joining the backlash against Apple for removing the headphone jack, Google will remove it from the new Pixel 6A. Google is not the only smartphone manufacturer to follow Apple's lead on removing the 3.5mm jack from the phone, but they were the loudest to protest its removal. 

On the Apple side. Apple has also announced a change to their phone hardware by exchanging the Lightning port for a universal USB-C port. This change follows a few years of consumer and policymaker pressure.
